You Need A Digital Detox

When was the last time you were excited to wake up?

Like waking up to your first snow. That pure, raw excitement about how you would spend your day

Now you wake up to the same mind numbing routine. The same stupid alarm that you've hit snooze on 47 times.

Before your eyes even open, your hand’s already on the screen. Another mindless scroll to start another meaningless day

A cycle of instagram, youtube, tiktok, memes and meaningless chats.

None of these things are evil on their own.

But string them together for long enough and suddenly you're 40, wondering where the heck your life went.

The Power Of Choices

You are not where you want to be because you're not making the choices it would take to get there

You're not making the choices that will lead to a healthy body

You're not making the choices that will lead to a calm life

You're not making the choices that will lead to a fulfilling career

"Azan, it's not that easy, i've got a lot of things to manage"

Yes, it's not easy

But you just made another tiny choice to accept there's nothing you can do about your situation

It’s not difficult to look around and see that you aren’t a special case. Millions have been where you are. Stuck. Lost. Hopeless. Dying inside, and millions have crawled their way out.

The quality of your life one year from now will depend on the tiny choices that compound into that life. Whether good or bad

You don't have to make perfect choices. Perfect is the enemy.

You need to mess up. Fall down. Taste dirt.

The only thing more painful than failing is never failing

No failure means no feedback.

No feedback means no adjustment.

No adjustment means no improvement

Without improvement, you don’t have an aim for your life.

Without an aim for your life, everything becomes meaningless.

Intentional Living

Most people never demand more from themselves

No struggle, no learning, no depth, no failure.

The more shortcuts you take to make life easier, the tougher it gets in the long run.

Intentional living means setting standards for yourself through the lens of your future self.

What time should you get up?

What skills should you possess?

How do you want to look and feel?

What should your habits be?

How do you want your mind to operate?

You have to think big, you can't settle for the bare minimum

Look for a reason behind everything you do.

You eat to live, you read to learn, you exercise to stay fit, you work to make money, you play to enjoy, you ... to .... ??

Why haven't you started working on that idea that excites you?

Do you know why you're glued to your phone all day?

Why haven't you started learning about yourself?

Do you know why you waste time every single day? Will you be happy or sad if you live the same day every day?

If you don’t know why you are doing something, why are you doing it? And if you know the reason, why are you not doing it?

You live in your mind. It should be your priority to understand how it works.

It's simple but true - you get one shot at life.

The only thing between you and the life you want are your own standards.

The Effect of Consumption

Information shapes everything about who you become.

When you're born, your brain is blank and ready to learn.

Your environment, family, peers, culture, education - they all program how you see reality.

Where did they learn their view of life? From others who followed the same cycle, unless they chose to think differently.

This becomes your reality.

If we put it in perspective, you know maybe 0.001% of what's actually out there in the world, maybe even less.

Your limited bubble of knowledge creates your map of the world.

It's how you make sense of everything.

It builds who you are.

Your identity filters what you notice, because you only understand what you've learned. You won't see opportunities if you don't have the knowledge to recognize them. You are missing out on 99% of life for this reason.

If I am an obese roblox gamer and a reddit warrior, I would notice certain details in games, memes, food, music, and game shows. As someone focused only on wasting my life, I won't even care about business or education.

If I deliberately expanded my knowledge, I would start seeing opportunities everywhere.

This is why the internet is so powerful.

You already have a digital network that either pushes you forward or pulls you backward

We have an abundance of media and it's crazy to think it does not shape who we become.

When you log in to social media, the default option is to look at whatever funny or entertaining video grabs your attention even if it does not add any value to your life

Most of these people fill your mind with junk like that friend who always wanted 'good' for you but when you see his true colors, you don't keep him as a friend anymore

You are the version of you that has become aware of the harm that friend brought

Unfollow anyone who does not raise your standards. Even if their content seems harmless, it subtly rewires your habits, beliefs, and identity. Little by little, you morph into someone you may not even recognize, or respect

Follow accounts that raise your standards. The people who push you to question your beliefs, teach you how to grow, and educate you on the skills required to reach the next stage of your life

You may not find the valuable information useful at first.

It might feel boring, until it becomes the best thing you did.

Over time, you'll build an environment that pushes, supports and helps you

"But I don't know where to start..."

Stop it.

You have the entire world's knowledge in your pocket and you're using it to watch food ASMR and scroll through memes?

The information is there. You're choosing to stay stuck.
